Nutrition Facts Label Limit these Get enough of these Fiber Protein Saturated/ Trans Fat Cholesterol Sodium Sugar Get enough of these Fiber Protein Vitamins Minerals (Calcium/Iron)

5-20 Rule If a nutrient is < 5%, it is LOW for that nutrient If a nutrient is > 20%, it is HIGH for that nutrient 5% Daily Value (DV) or less is low –   for nutrients you want to limit, choose foods with a low % DV.  Nutrients to limit are saturated fat, trans fat, added sugar, cholesterol, and sodium. 20% Daily Value (DV) or more is high – for nutrients you want to get enough of, choose foods with a high % DV.  Nutrients to get enough of are fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals.

Ingredients Rule If a third grader can’t pronounce it or you don’t know what it is…don’t eat it. Also…If there are more than five-ish ingredients (or sugar is in the top three), its probably not good for you as it is most likely heavily processed. Ingredients: sugar, palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, skim milk, and vanilla.
