Space Chronicle O’Connell’s Classroom Log Daily Schedule Third Grade Churchill School Space Chronicle Week of October 30, 2017 Upcoming Events Our Weekly Misson October 31st Halloween Parties, Early Dismissal 12:00 November 1st – 3rd: PTA Book Fair November 1st: Class visit to the Book Fair Reading: This week we will continue to work on making inferences and telling how the characters change in the story. We will use clues from the text to show evidence and explain why. We will read “The Raft” by Jim LaMarche. This story is written in First Person and student will learn about Point of View and the words used when the narrator is telling the story. Math: Chapter 3: Understanding Multiplication. Students will understand equal groups and how they can build the foundation for understanding the operation of multiplication. Students will learn a variety of strategies to represent equal groups. Writing: Writing using sensory details. Social Studies: Citizenship, Rights and Responsibilities Grammar: Chapter 2 Nouns Spelling: Sound /s/ spelled c before e, i, and y Classroom Log Our Halloween celebration is on Tuesday and all are welcome to join us outside for the parade at 10:40 AM. However, parents who are not signed up to help with the party will have to celebrate with us outside. Also, please remind your student that they are not allowed to wear masks or face covering of any kind. There are no weapons or large props allowed in the parade or in the school. Students should not wear full makeup or costumes to school. They will be able to change at school. Please let me know if your student is not participating in the parade and/or classroom party. This week we go to the library on Wednesday. Students go to the library every other week. Please make sure students bring their books to school to return. We will be visiting the Book Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 1st at 9:00 AM. A brochure will be sent home today to see some of the books in advance. A note is attached with more details. Remember that the Book Mobil will be open every Friday after the Book Fair. Students can bring money to purchase books at school.
