President Theodore Roosevelt very much valued nature President Theodore Roosevelt very much valued nature. Once, during a hunting trip, he refused to shoot an injured bear that had been tied up to make his hunt easy. We will be learning about how Roosevelt’s passion for nature and wilderness led to one to the greatest policies for which his presidency is known.

In 1900, Theodore Roosevelt was the Republican choice for vice president. He was the choice for this position because he was a military leader in the Spanish-American War, and governor of New York in 1898. He had a good reputation and sound experience.
