Fashion Fad The particular style that is popular at a given time. A fashion that is very popular for a short period of time (as in 1 to 2 seasons).

Style The shape of a particular item that makes it recognizable.

Classic A traditional style that stays in fashion a long time. Blazers, jeans, suits

Fad A fashion that is very popular for a short period of time. Less expensive Can be clothing, hair style, hair color, accessories, and shoes.

Avant - Garde Being ahead of fashion trends.

Old Fashioned A fashion that is outdated and no longer in fashion. Fads become old fashioned quickly Sometimes old fashioned clothing becomes “Retro”.
