Journal Based on your experiences over the past eleven (or twelve) years of being a student, draft and explain three to four basic policies (rules, good practices) to be followed when working in the library as a class. Keep in mind the following goals, which may influence the drafting of your laws: 1.) Our primary purposes for the library use are computer / text-based research and word processing; 2.) We aspire to utilize the tools available in the library to accomplish our objectives without hindering the abilities of any other students using the library to accomplish their own work. [Laws must be designed with consideration for intended outcomes, so be sure to draft your policies with enough clarity that they do not invite confusion or further questions .]

Intro to Sociological Thought Part I: Using the links provided below, create a neatly structured graphic organizer which addresses the fundamental differences between the following foundational sociological thinkers: Auguste Comte, Harriet Martineau, Herbert Spencer, Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, Jane Addams, and W.E.B. DuBois. For each sociologist, you need to include the following categories: Name, Years Active, Personal Background, Primary Area of Focus, and Current Impact. Comte: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/comte/ Martineau http://faculty.webster.edu/woolflm/martineau2.html Spencer: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/spencer/ Marx: http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/bios/Marx.html Durkheim: http://durkheim.uchicago.edu/Biography.html Weber: http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/bios/Weber.html Addams: http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/1931/addams-bio.html DuBois: http://www.naacp.org/pages/naacp-history-w.e.b.-dubois Part II: Using any available news resources, locate three news articles which address recent events involving the behavior of a group of people. For the parameters of this assignment, we will define “recent” as occurring within the last year. For each, provide the source of the article, a brief summary of the event, a clear identification of the social group involved in the event, and an explanation as to the motivating factors which led to the group’s action. (Be sure to highlight any pertinent vocabulary terms!)
