UNIT 9. THE CLIMATES OF SPAIN

Weather is very dynamic, and may change many times from day to day or from season to season. Climate describes weather conditions in a certain place over a period of many years, and it’s influenced by temperature and precipitation.

Choose the sentence which refers to climate: I go to Almeria on holiday, because the summers are always hot. It’s a really windy today!

What is climate? Climate describes weather conditions in a certain place over a long period of time, and it’s influenced by temperature and precipitation.

There are 3 factors which affect climate Water heats up and cools down more slowly than land. So temperatures on the coast are milder. Temperatures fall as altitude increases, so, the climate is colder and more humid in the mountains Not all the Earth receives an equal amount of heat, Regions near the Ecuador receive more heat Distance from the sea Altitude Proximity to the Ecuador

What factors influence the climate in these place? What are the temperatures and precipitation of these places?

Mediterranean climate Continental Mediterranean climate The climates of Spain There are five climates in Spain: This is the climate of the regions near the Mediterranean coast. The temperatures are mild and there is little precipitation. This is the climate of inland regions of the Iberian Peninsula. Temperatures are very low in winter and very high in summer. There is little precipitation. Mediterranean climate Continental Mediterranean climate

This is the climate of the northern regions of the Iberian Peninsula This is the climate of the northern regions of the Iberian Peninsula. Temperatures are mild and there is abundant precipitation. This is the climate of the Canary Islands. There is little precipitation and temperatures are mild all year round. This is the climate of mountain regions. Temperatures are low and there is abundant precipitation. Oceanic climate Subtropical climate Mountain climate

What kind of climate is there in…?
