Religions practiced in Russia

Longitude & Latitude The location of Christmas Island is, 10° 30' 0" S and the location of Russia is 60 degrees N and 90 degrees E. Population of Christmas Island: 1,402 (in 2010) Population of Russia: 143.5 million (in 2013) The type of government Christmas Island has is Federal monarchy . The type of government Russia has is Federal republic, Semi-presidential system, and Constitutional republic.

Literacy Rates The literacy rates in Russia are: male literacy is 99.7%, female literacy is 99.6%.

Languages: Chinese, Malay, English are all the most spoken on Christmas Island. English is the official language. Languages in Russia: Though Russian is the official language, There are over 100 minority languages spoken in Russia today, the most popular of which is Tatar (Tartar), spoken by more than 3% of the country's population.

Climate of both countries~ Christmas Island Christmas Island experiences a tropical climate with wet and dry seasons. The wet season is from December through April when the island comes under the influence of the north-west monsoons. The mean annual rainfall is 1,930 millimeters. Most of this rain falls between November and May. February and March are usually the wettest months.

Climate of both countries~ Russia The average winter temperature is about -10°C. St. Petersburg is usually 20-25°C and Moscow is often in highs of 35-37°C. Down south, Russia's vast steppe is hot and dry. Winters are short but cold. In the city of Volgograd, the weather starts its freezing point as early as November. But the Black Sea resort of Sochi makes up for the rest of the country with 35°C between June and August

Ethnic Groups~ Christmas Island The culture of Christmas Island is unique, for people of many different ethnicities inhabit the area. The majority of residents are Chinese, but Europeans and Malays  reside there as well. The main languages of Christmas Island are English and Chinese. 20% 70%

Ethnic Groups~ Russia  Ethnic Russian people make up 81% of the total population. This share remained steady over the last few decades. Six other ethnicities have a population exceeding 1 million – Tatars (3.9%), Ukrainians (1.4%), Bashkir (1.1%), Chuvash (1%), Chechens (1%) and Armenians (0.9%).

Pull factors of Russia People wanted to escape the violence of the riots and the aggressive policy of the government and enjoy the freedom offered in America. Russian Immigrants fled to America to escape death and disease and seek a new life and safety with a reduced fear of disease. Russian immigrants moved the USA to join family members and enjoy the opportunities offered in America

Push Factors of Russia In 1861 Tsar Alexander II proclaimed the Emancipation Manifesto granting freedom to the serfs and the right to travel. The end of the Cold War and the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 led to a new political and economic system in Russia. Jewish Russians were persecuted and many died in the violence of the riots called the 'Pogroms‘.

Push & Pull factors of Christmas Island Christmas Island, off the north-west coast of Western Australia, is home to more than 2,500 asylum seekers. The government announced it would build a new immigration detention center in the northern city of Darwin to relieve overcrowding on Christmas Island. It is also a tourist attraction! Another push factor is that many animals are becoming extinct!
