My social action Evaluation by Chloe Knott

Fitness for purpose General purpose to lower car insurance for young first drivers 17+ Other ways/methods to lower insurance rates Persuade insurers as more people would drive if costs were lowered Costs of insurance ruin it for young people who would like to be able to driver Final product explains different methods to resolve the issue and lower the costs Final product uses good interviews/info for what is trying to be changed Interview with insurer would improve social action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpXRipT63oc This video shows how you can make young drivers car insurance lowered

Message of overall social action Overall message Let young drivers have the chance to prove there not all bad drivers Other methods are available to track bad driving otherwise costs should decrease including black box etc. Message has been shown and convincing well by using the younger audience to interview on driving and their opinions Could have used more facts/statistics on young drivers and the percentage of bad drivers

Appropriate for target audience Target audience was generally anybody who could make a change to young peoples car insurance Insurers Target audience did work well as what was being shown shows there is a problem with costs for young first drivers and the only people who can make a change are the insurers itself or higher persons within the UK

Original ideas Overall we wanted to do an social action on insurance but we couldn’t decide on what angle we wanted to focus on we were going to focus on either young first drivers, adults or elder people as we wanted to find out why each insurance was at that certain rate and why in the end we chose young first drivers as this was a big issue and effected us ourselves.

Effectiveness of techniques There were a range of different techniques used within my social action including raising awareness that all young first drivers aren't bad drivers. Changing attitudes due to the facts we used from other young peoples point of view and that nobody should be treated differently for example elderly people could still be as dangerous yet there car insurance is cheaper yet they could argue that they have more experience. Also ageism was a big issue and the fact of gender as insurance at one point was more expensive for young boys which was very sexist. Throughout our social action we have successfully shown the audience to be aware that all young drivers aren't bad and why

The content of my social action was well presented to the audience and you know straight away what my video is about as the intro begins. In my social action a variety of information is shown in different ways using interviews general and also general information which is very effective as the audience can realise how young people feel towards insurance and the effect it has on young people wanted to be able to learn to drive but the cost is ruining it for them.

Impact of work I have shown my work to my parents and friends to see whether they believe my social action makes you realise not all young first drivers are bad and also whether my social action changes attitudes on young drivers I choose to show my video to my parents and friends as my parents would understand from a parents point of view and my friends are the target audience. My friends felt the same as many of the others who were interviewed that the costs are not letting them drive and the insurance is to much grief.

Technical qualities My group recorded my footage as this wasn't my job to film but overall our filming was quite impressive there were a few clips were the camera was shaky and a few clips which were wrong but overall we got there as a group in the end. If we could have improved I would have chose to record more footage ourselves for example young people driving and maybe have footage of an insurer and there opinions themselves. I believe I edited my film together very simply I could have been more creative and added in transitions to make it more eye- catching but all of my footage linked in the order I had put it in myself. Other than these faults and also the sound as some clips were louder than others my premiere pro editing was successful.

Look of my film Overall I believe my film could have looked better in the sense of more footage if filmed and transitions added to make it more eye-catching the lighting was good as we recorded outside near the college. Our film could have been better if we recorded in the studio as the interviews would have then looked more professional and serious. Other than these slight minor issues I believe my film was a basic success.

OVERALL!! Overall I believe my group worked well as a team to produce our social action footage, sound and pre-production also we all worked well at our individual job roles. Our social action was clearly recognizable on our issue we were raising. Friends and family I had shown the video to had also realised straight away and this film made them recognize and understand how use young first/drivers or wanting to be drivers feel about the insurance situation.

Thank you for listening to my evaluation!
