What is the responsibility of characters in an Aristotelian tragedy? Characters are ranked 2nd in place in importance in and Aristotelian tragedy. Characters are responsible for supporting the plot, for example, personal motivations will be intricately connected parts of the cause-and-effect chain of actions producing pity and fear in the audience.

The protagonist of an Aristotelian tragedy should be renowned and prosperous, thus his change can be from good to bad, becoming a tragedy. This would generate pity and fear in the audience. In the ideal tragedy, Aristotle claims that the protagonist will mistakenly bring about his own downfall—not because he is sinful or morally weak, but because he does not know enough.

Also, the qualities of characters in a tragedy, a character needs to be.. - Good or fine because Aristotle relates this quality to moral purpose and says it is relative to class. - Suitable to their roles, for example Valor is appropriate for warriors but not for women - Realistic - Consistency of characters throughout the story. For example, if a character’s personality is established, it should remain same throughout. - Characters must be necessary to the plot. - Characters should be presented as perfect or at least better than reality

Aristotle originated the concept of the three act structure. What is it, and how does it apply to scriptwriting? Act One/ Prepare the Audience : Characters are introduced. Conflict is shown. Audience knows the main problem in the story. Usually starts at an exciting note. Act Two: Conflict is deepened. Climax at this point. Most important act. Initial is complicated. Main character must try to solve the problem. The adversaries must always be in action, trying to thwart the hero’s plans. In Act Two, the Hero reaches his lowest point. Act Three: The conflict is solved, and there is a conclusion.

The 3 Act structure acts like a spine, giving the story some ground to develop. It also leads the audience on in the story, helping the audience to digest the information, and keeping the audience interested in the story.

What is the definition of anagnorisis? Anagnorosis is recognition by the tragic hero of some truth about his or her identity or actions that accompanies the reversal of the situation in the plot of a tragedy.Simply put it as a change from ignorance to knowledge.
