Chelsey H. 8 years old Mississippi, USA WIRE-MESH CUP HOLDERS! Chelsey H. 8 years old Mississippi, USA

Step 1 – Think it! When people place full cups of a drink on a patio table, they always seem to get knocked over. When empty cups are placed on a patio table, sometimes the wind blows them over, so I invented the wire-mesh cup holders.

Step 2 – Explore it! People have already made cup holes and clip on cup holders. These products are sold in stores and online. But these items can be expensive or easily broken. My solution is a cluster of wire-mesh cup holders that wrap around the umbrella pole in the center of the patio table.

Step 3 – Sketch it!

Step 4 – Create it! First, I bought wire-mesh cup holders, Velcro and strings. Second, I attached the cup holders together with the strings and Velcro. Last, I undid one of the Velcro dots, and I put the cup holders around the umbrella pole.

Step 5 – Try it! Put the cups together, and they fit perfectly around the umbrella pole.

Step 6 – Tweak it! I was thinking maybe I could change it by making a circular object so it will be easier to get on and off. I was also thinking that maybe I could make a light on the side of the cup so it wont fall over in night or day. I was also thinking maybe I could make smaller cup holders for smaller tables. I was also thinking maybe if you have a fold up table I could make a little case or something for the cup holders.

Step 7 – Sell it!
