We will give you a pack of handouts that we feel will be of use to you by the end of the week.

Ilketshall St Lawrence Primary School ‘At our school we aim to provide the children with a broad, balanced and topic-based curriculum. We encourage the children to be independent in their actions, making choices about their learning and in their thinking. We work together to instill a love of learning. We place great importance on each child acquiring a good understanding of and competency in the basic skills and we aim for each child to achieve their full potential.’ The school website islschool.co.uk has more information about our school.

Lunchtime is at 12pm when the children can eat lunch and then play with their friends. All Reception and Key Stage 1 children are entitled to a free school meal each day. There is a selection of different meals available each day for your child to choose from. Vegetarian options are always available. Menus sent home the week before. Health Health Staff need to be aware of your child’s medical background, in particular any allergies (e.g. bee stings, dairy food), any dietary restrictions (e.g. vegetarian) and any medical conditions that are important for us to know (e.g. asthma or eczema). Children can suddenly become ill and therefore it is important that we know we can contact you or another adult relative/friend at all times. Please ensure that the school is kept up to date with your contact details. If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please telephone the school office to let us know.

Maths This year we have introduce White Rose Maths into our learning. This 'Mastery' curriculum, ensures the children have a deep understanding of the subject, where they can make links between the different areas of Maths. There are three aims of the Primary Mathematics Curriculum: fluency, reasoning and problem solving. The children are encouraged to apply their knowledge to a range of different activities and situations. It is no longer enough to just get the answer correct; the children need to be able to prove why and explain how and why.

Learning Journeys – Tapestry Throughout the year, staff will record your child’s learning on Tapestry. This will form a unique record of your child’s learning and development. It will contain photographs and staff observations. These folders enable staff to track your child’s progress and attainment, and also plan future activities. PPT Handouts Parent evenings are in Autumn Term and in Spring Term End Of Year Reports are given out in July

Home Learning We understand and value the support you provide for your child at home. Early years staff would love to hear about what you and your child have been doing at home. We encourage you to share your child’s learning, achievements and experiences with staff, as this helps us to build a more complete picture of your child. Tapestry is one way to do this. Home books There is the opportunity to change these on Monday, Wednesday and Friday if Little Owls choose to Library books Little Owls change these on Mondays Reading books Will be given when your child is ready - ORT
