This month we will be learning about… Social Studies/ Science January Newsletter News from Mrs. DiCarlo’s Class This month we will be learning about… Reading/ Writing Strategies for decoding- SOL1.5, 1.6 Expanding vocabulary- SOL 1.7, 1.8 Comprehension of Fiction (Focus on questioning and predicting)- SOL 1.9 Comprehension of Nonfiction Focus on writing one topic- SOL1.13 Capitalization and ending punctuation- SOL1.13 Math Subtraction facts to 18 or less- SOL 1.5 Horizontal and vertical representation for addition and subtraction math sentences- SOL1.5, 1.6 Equal sign- SOL 1.18 Problem solving- SOL 1.6 Calendar and Data- SOL 1.14, 1.15 Social Studies/ Science Geography/ Map Skills- SOL 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 People and animals in winter- SOL 1.5 Handwriting- SOL1.12 Spacing between words Correct Letter Formation Dates to Remember January 5: Classes Resume January 19: No School/ MLK Jr. Day January 22: Library research day 9:30-10:00am January 22: Putt Putt Night 6:00-7:00pm January 23: End of 2nd Quarter January 26: No School/ Teacher Work Day Reminders We go outside for recess daily.
