The Goodness of God “with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow” (Jas. 1:17)

God’s person is good God is great in goodness How great is Thy goodness, which Thou hast stored up for those who fear Thee, which Thou hast wrought for those who take refuge in Thee, before the sons of men! (Psalm 31:19) The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who take refuge in Him. (Nahum 1:7)

God’s person is good God alone is good in the ultimate sense. And behold, one came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” (Matthew 19:16-17)

God’s provision is good The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing. (Psalm 34:10) For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11)

“Or what man is there among you, when his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone? “Or if he shall ask for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:9-11)

Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow. (James 1:17)

God’s providence is good “And as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. (Genesis 50:20) And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

God’s plans are good Remember your creator in the days of youth”. (Eccl. 12:1) ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,‘ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2) How blessed is the one whom Thou dost choose, and bring near to Thee, to dwell in Thy courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, Thy holy temple. (Psalm 65:4)

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…”

God’s pardon is good For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon Thee. (Psalm 86:5)
