2 Diseases in the Respiratory System Hend Elkatta 6th Grade Science Mrs. Cody

Lung Cancer A disease in the Respiratory System is Lung Cancer. You can get lung cancer for several reasons like Asbestos fibers, Radon gas, Familial predisposition, lung disease, air pollution and finally the most common one smoking. Smoking can do several bad things to you like chest pain and sometimes you can’t breathe well and it swells your face and neck and you will cough for the rest of your life (if you stop smoking it will probably go away.) & when you spit it will me the color red or even brown. You will get fevers randomly and also lung infections. Sometimes lung cancer can spread to other organs. It might cause a lot of pains like headaches & bleeding, or blood clots. That was a disease in the Respiratory System.

Signs of Lung Cancer A new unfamiliar cough or bad painful cough Blood in the sputum Infections in the Respiratory System Chest pain Having weight loss without wanting to lose weight or feeling very exhausted all of a sudden Breathing difficulties like shortness of breath or even wheezing

Treatment for Lung Cancer There are three treatments for Lung Cancer. One is surgery 2 is Radiation 3 is Prophylactic brain radiation 4 is Treatment of recurrence 5 is Targeted therapy and 6 Experimental therapies. Although these treatment can sometimes not work for you and you may die!

Asthma Another disease in the Respiratory system is Asthma. When someone has asthma, it can make breathing very difficult. And sometimes you can find yourself wheezing and coughing. Asthma is a disease because it can make it difficult to breathe. Sometimes exhaling leads to a asthma attack. The air we breathe is more clean than the air most of other people with asthma breathe. That’s another disease people have in the Respiratory System.

Signs of Asthma There are several signs for asthma like: wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest pain, tightness near the respiratory system, coughing, and difficulty speaking.

Treatments of Asthma There are several treatments for asthma. A treatment is normal activities, asthma trigger you should do your very best to avoid them, having knowledge about signs of asthma and ask your doctor for any tips. Report any changes or worsening of your symptoms promptly, Tell a doctor any side effects you may be having. That’s most of the treatments for Asthma that I know.
