What are Student Led Conferences? A new, innovative style of Parent Conferencing The student explains accomplishments and goals Portfolio work is presented, and student has a prepared reflection log, along with teacher comments The teacher’s role is as a FACILITATOR ONLY
Why the new format? Empowers the student to take responsibility for their own learning Gives parents a chance to hear the student reflect on progress Students are accountable for academic and behavioral choices

How do I prepare for the SLC? Make an appointment online at volunteerspot.com Schedule a PT Conference on another day in addition to SLC if you prefer talking with teachers Write down any questions you have for your student on an index card to bring with you
During the SLC Let the student lead the conference Save questions for the end Use the handout given to you today to help with discussion Resist the urge to change the format of the conference
Post Conference Complete Parent Reflection Sheet If needed, schedule a follow up appointment with teacher(s) Plan to set up support at home to help your student do their best (resources, routines, extra practice) Set a common goal to help your child succeed this year
