2 verb phrases DO conjugate the 1st verb DON’T conjugate the 2nd verb In Spanish, just like English, DO conjugate the 1st verb DON’T conjugate the 2nd verb in a 2-verb phrase. Example: I want to read a book. Yo quiero leer un libro.

Querer + infinitive (to want to do something) Carla quiere llevar una camiseta. Pensar + infinitive (to think about doing something) Miguel piensa llevar una corbata. Necesitar + infinitive (to need to do something. Carla necesita hacer la tarea.

Poder + infinitive (to be able to do something) Carla puede llevar pantalones cortos. Deber + infinitive (should do something) Miguel debe llevar el traje al baile. Preferir + infinitive (to prefer to do something) Carla prefiere llevar una camiseta.

Remember that gustar and encantar only have 2 forms: Gusta gustan Encanta encantan. **With verb phrases, we use the singular form of the verb.

2 verb phrases Gustar + infinitive (to like to do something) A Carla le gusta llevar pantalones cortos. Encantar + infinitive (to love to do something) A Carla le encanta llevar una sudadera.

These 3 have a little something extra Tener que + infinitive (to have to do something) Carla tiene que hacer ejercicio. Ir a + infinitive (to be going to do something) Carla va a ganar el partido. Acabar de + infinitive (to have just done something) Carla acaba de leer un poema.

I like to wear hats. Juan wants to wear boots. I would like to dance after school. Juan has to do his homework. We can speak Spanish.
