Response to Intervention Webquest for Teachers Sara Seckel Saginaw Valley State University EDL 554
Introduction This webquest is designed to help you as a teacher better understand the RTI process and how it can help you and your students RTI – Response to Intervention Assists all students, but most importantly helps with LD identification
Task You are part of an RTI team. You will take the role as researchers for the RTI team. The team will be given a behavioral or academic scenario of a school and a student scenario. Your task is to identify what TIER each scenario matches and provide at least 2 research-based interventions for each TIER. You must visit at least 2 of the provided links, along with your own research. As a team member, you will help your team research, identify, and apply appropriate interventions.
Process Response to Intervention (RTI) is a three tiered process put into place to assist in meeting the needs of each student. Key components in the RTI process are progress monitoring, Tier 1,Tier 2, and Tier 3.
Process Continued Make a KWL chart Take a piece of paper and fold it into three columns Head each individual column with a K, W, L Individually complete the K and W column of the KWL chart. When done, please keep the KWL chart and fill in the L column as you learn new things throughout the training.

Process Continued In a group of three to four members, you will construct a three tiered pyramid. Everyone will get into small groups of 3 to 4 people who do not teach the same grade or subject. Once you are situated in your groups, one person from each group will pick a scenario out of the bag. Your group will use the chosen scenario, given links, and your KWL charts to construct a 3 TIER pyramid using examples of researched-based interventions that would be used for that scenario. Each TIER should have at least 2 examples

Evaluation Category 4 2 KWL Chart KWL Chart KWL is completed showing in depth knowledge KWL is somewhat complete, it might be missing some parts The KWL is missing most of the work Tier 1 You have provided 2 possible researched based interventions for Tier 1 You have provided 1 possible researched based interventions for Tier 1 You have provided no interventions Tier 2 You have provided 2 possible researched based interventions for Tier 2 You have provided 1 possible researched based interventions for Tier 2 Tier 3 You have provided 2 possible researched based interventions for Tier 3 You have provided 1 possible researched based interventions for Tier 3
Conclusion When used correctly, RTI can be very effective in guiding students to success. Interventions can be provided to students to aid them with academics or behaviors. Don't be afraid to ask for help, and to ask questions for clarification. It is okay to not always have the answers, the important thing is to be the one to seek help and find the answer to help build a successful school and classroom.
