Tips for successful grant applications Timing – Quality applications take time, so start well ahead of the deadline Guidelines - read them, follow them – it will save you time in the long run Review – seek feedback on your proposal from peers & mentors Budget – check your figures – they must be correct (ie add up) Internal Signoffs – see points 1 & 2 above

Timing Start preparing the proposal / application early Prepare draft and then leave it Get feedback (peers .... co-investigators) Leave yourself enough time to incorporate the feedback and polish your draft

Funding Rules & Review All applications for funding should be submitted through the Research Services Office RSO will review your Draft before submission (budget, compliance with guidelines) The RSO usually requires 2 weeks to provide a complete review of your draft
