Presentation transcript:

Learning target: I CAN describe objects using words. I CAN investigate how an object behaves in order to use what I know to solve a problem.

Lets make observations Generate words that will describe the physical property of the object that you can see with your eyes: Does the object have a smell? If so, what words can you use to describe it? Generate words to describe how the object FEELS: Describe the types of observations you saw students writing or discussion with regard to what they saw in the soil. Did they take time to really observe the soil or did they wait to see what other students said? Did students touch the soil to see how it felt? What types of questions did students ask?

What are you curious about? What type of responses did students say when asked this question?

What happens when we put this object in water?

What did we find out? Let’s Discuss

Data Discussion How did water change the physical properties of the object? Is it still the same object and why? What other questions do you have now?

Can a bunch of these objects hold something up?

What did we find out? Were the objects able to hold up any of the objects we tested?

What happens when these objects are placed in water now?

What did we find out? When placed in water, the object

Can we use what we know to do this?

Talk to your team and come up with an idea Talk to your team and come up with an idea. Using what you know about these objects, how can we make an object seem to float in water?
