Liberia’s Fisheries History In the 1970s through 1980, Liberia had a small and manageable number of vessels in their industrial fisheries sector. The industrial industry focused mainly on shrimp and demersal fish However due to the war, many of those companies suspended operations for a period of time; some resumed some did not. Since that time, the industrial fisheries industry has struggled to reach the pre war production.
Liberia’s Industrial Fishing History Cont’d In 2014, Liberia began the process of negotiating a Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement with the EU. Due to the unforeseen circumstances, the process was suspended and delayed until the following year. In 2015, Liberia concluded the negotiation and signed the SFPA. The SFPA came into effect in 2016
