How does your body respond to stress? GAS (General Adaptation Syndrome) Series of body changes that result from stress 3 phases Alarm: body gets ready for quick action Resistance: body attempts to regain internal balance Exhaustion: wear and tear on the body increases the risk of injury, illness & premature death 5
