An Introduction to the Principles and Applications of Electromagnetic Induction

Aims and Objectives To recall the founder of Electromagnetic Induction To consider the theory behind Electromagnetic Induction To name two common applications of Electromagnetic Induction

Michael Faraday 29/08/1831 Faraday discovered 2 main things: 1) If a magnet was moved through a coil of wire, a voltage would be induced into the wire. This is Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction. Applications = electric motors and generators. 2) If 2 coils of wire are wound on a soft iron core, a voltage applied to one wire will induce a momentary voltage on the other. This is mutual induction. Applications = transformers.

How does it work? Mutual Induction

Applications of Electromagnetic Induction Past: AC Electricity, Electricity Generation & Distribution Present: Home appliances, Computers, Cars, Industrial Control Systems, MRI Scanners Future: Induction charging, MAGLEV Train

Electromagnetic Induction Any Questions??? Review Thank You
