Types of Magnet 1.BAR MAGNET 2.HORSESHOE MAGNET 3.DISC MAGNET 4.NEEDLE MAGNET

TYPES OF MAGNETS

MAGNETIC SUBSTANCES NON MAGNETIC SUBSTANCES MAGNETS MAGNETIC SUBSANCES(DEF)-Substances that are magnetic substances. attracted to a magnet are called magnetic substances. NON MAGNETIC SUBSTANCES(DEF)-Those substances that remain unaffected by a magnet are called non magnetic substances. MAGNETIC SUBSTANCES NON MAGNETIC SUBSTANCES Ex. IRON Ex. RUBBER COBALT PLASTIC NICKEL WOOD

Properties of magnets Coming to rest in the north-south direction when freely suspended is one of the characteristics of a magnet. The magnet’s strength is concentrated at it’s poles. Like magnetic poles repel each other. Unlike magnetic poles attract each other. The two poles of a magnet cannot be separated from each other.
