Landscapes The use of Foreground, Mid-ground, & Background are essential to the development of this project. Images Created by Advanced Art Students Henderson Middle School Instructor Kelly Bates-Schroeder

This image began as with just three layers. Background - orange color that was then shaded light to dark with the gradient tool. 2 Yellow circles & a texture 3) 3 pink blobs & a stripe – gradient, texture, & glimmer reflection

Combining opacity, textures, reflection, and then layering them in a specific stack created a very lovely work.

Simple yet effective. Both landscapes have similar effects, yet the top one works better with the edge of land & grass ragged. Where the water on the right side has the white caps of waves!

The background alone has five layers to make it work. This is stage 1 The background alone has five layers to make it work. This is stage 1. All shapes and objects are in the right location.

This version has the clouds muted and the horse shaded This version has the clouds muted and the horse shaded. A textured brush was used with the clouds and with some of the horse. A muted brush & eraser was also used for the shading of the horse.

Stamps and textures were used to create this snakes nest.

Blotches, streaks, and areas of color were then blurred with the “Blur Motion” tool. A butterfly stamp and a reflection was added.

Each object was made on a different layer and various filters were used to give them all unique colors & textures to create this desert.

Reminiscent of the Impressionist era, these Sun flowers were manipulated using a blur and shading. Then a filter was used to twist the image to create this action of lively movement throughout the page.

An environmental statement is reflected here through color & texture An environmental statement is reflected here through color & texture. The smog is so heavy you can feel a cough coming on.

Starting with soft pastel colors, contrasted with the black background, this depiction of the aurora has an off set blur and a reflection that makes you look for your shades.

A star dust storm collides with a frozen planet

The use of stamps can be effective if the artist takes the images a step further by using filters, effects and textures.

The most effective landscapes in this small sample are those where the artist participated in experimenting with the various tools available in Photoshop. This goes for any creative program; you can not be afraid to experiment.
