Life-Cycle Thinking in ISO 14001:2015 Recognition that: too many organisations focus environmental management on operational impacts huge potential to drive performance improvements through supply-chains & better products/services no desire to require full LCA for all users
Life-Cycle Thinking in ISO 14001:2015 consecutive and interlinked stages of a product (or service) system, from raw material acquisition or generation from natural resources to final disposal Note 1 to entry: The life cycle stages include acquisition of raw materials, design, production, transportation/ delivery, use, end-of-life treatment and final disposal
Life-Cycle Thinking in ISO 14001:2015 Requirements include: 6.1.2 - consider a life-cycle perspective in the identification and evaluation of environmental aspects 8.1 – consistent with a life-cycle perspective…. Put in place controls in design/development process….considering each life-cycle stage Set environment requirements for procurement Consider the need to provide information on significant environmental impacts for “forward life-cycle stages”
