Laboratory Safety

Dress Appropriately Long sleeves No shorts No open shoes Pull back long hair and baggy clothing

Working Environment Clear the workspace All books, papers, backpacks, jackets, etc… out of the way Be organized Familiarize yourself with the location and operation of the safety equipment (fire extinguisher, fire blanket, safety shower, eye wash station, etc…)

Let’s Get To Work!!! Pay attention to the pre-lab presentation If you have questions, ASK !!! Do not engage in any “unauthorized” experiments Always be aware of those around you Respect the chemicals If something breaks, tell the teacher No food or drink---Never WEAR YOUR GOGGLES, GLOVES, AND APRONS AT ALL TIMES

Now That We’re Done Dispose of all chemicals properly Clean up your lab area WASH YOUR HANDS!!! LAB REPORTS ARE ALWAYS DUE ONE WEEK AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THE EXPERIMENT.
