Noah’s Time Gen 6:5-22, 7:11-24
Few in number Only 8 people were saved from the flood (Gen 7:13, 1 Pet 3:20-21) Changing religious age demographics, Pew Research Center reports Do we worry about the church not growing? Christ told us few would be saved (Matt 7:13-14) Trust in God as Noah did (Matt 16:18, Dan 2:44, Matt 6:34) Do we worry about the church dying? The future of the church?
No one listened Mankind was so corrupt, God regretted making him (Gen 6:5-7, 11- 12) Noah preached to the world (2 Pet 2:5) Only 8 were saved, no one else listened For certain, we live in immoral times Evil is “preached” as righteousness Truth is hated, mocked, and even censored
No one listened This is not new, and it didn’t stop after the flood As Christians we’re told to expect this from the world (1 John 3:13, John 15:17-19, Acts 2:39-40, 1 Pet 4:3-5) We must teach the truth (1 Pet 3:15, 2 Tim 3:16-4:3) We’re not in control, but don’t be discouraged (1 Cor 3:5-9, Parable of the Sower - Matt 13:1-23) Do we worry about the results of our teaching rather than teaching the truth? Do not be discouraged but focus on….
How Noah was saved Gen 6:7-9 – Noah was righteous and walked with God Gen 6:13-22 – Noah did as God commanded It’s easy to get caught up with the world around us Anti-religious culture has never been the only danger (Matt 7:15-23) Walk with God We have been warned as Noah was (2 Pet 3:3-14) Focus on our “ark”, our salvation
