Explain what is meant by system maintenance and give two examples of tasks that would normally be completed as part of this maintenance. (4 marks) Describe two different methodologies of system maintenance, giving an example in each case to illustrate your answer. (4 marks)

Assessment Objectives (Outcome) Grade E/D Standard: Be able to define what the term maintenance means and describe its purpose. Achieve more than 40% of the exam style question. There are three different types of maintenance that can happen to a system. Activity 3 – Sort the Maintenance cards with their definitions. (Paired – 5 minutes) Activity 4 – Make note of these maintenance and come up with appropriate examples (Independent / Paired – 10 minutes) Answers to be briefly discussed as a group.

Review / Evaluation At the end of the project it is important to evaluate the system. The created system is evaluated against : Client Requirements Quantitative and Qualitative Objectives Users / Clients opinions on project delivery It would also include project members own opinions about the progress of the project as a whole.

Methodologies – Odds Vs Evens In Systems Development there are 2 main methodologies that are adopted. The methodology is either Linear or Iterative. Activity 7 (Paired – 10 minutes)– ODDS are to read the passage on linear methods EVENS are to read the passage on iterative methods. When informed ODDS are to pair up with an EVEN and share your learning. Between you complete the tasks outlined on your passage sheet. Answers to be briefly discussed as a group.
