DO NOW!! AS SOON AS YOU WALK IN & SIT DOWN! READ THE FOLLOWING EXCERPT; HOW DID CATT BUILD ON ONE OF HER CLAIMS TO CONGRESS IN 1917? “Chapman alludes to the Revolutionary and Civil wars when she says, "The American Revolutionists boldly proclaimed the heresies...'Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed'" and,"...Abraham Lincoln welded those two maxims into a new one..." By alluded to these wars she suggests that women are fighting their own war for suffrage and appeals to ethos by using The Declaration of Independence as well as past presidents to make her statements more credible in the audiences eyes”. Carrie Chapman Catt November 1917, Washington D.C.
