Presentation transcript:

Name of Program 2018 Information Session

Introductions Introduce yourself and your reason for directing the program. Engage the students and ask them to briefly introduce themselves.

Why A Faculty-Directed Program? With over 250 options to study abroad at Westfield, it is a good idea to reiterate some key reasons why studying on an WSU faculty-led program could be a good fit for a student. These include: Gain global competencies Take classes with WSU faculty Earn credit towards your degree Satisfy Peace Corps Prep Certificate requirements Have a structured, pre-planned program (and courses) Build a strong connection with a WSU faculty member and cohort students WSU support in country

Location Information Use this slide to get students excited about the location of the program. Provide photos and basic details about why this site is the best fit for the program and share with students the exciting opportunities that exist in the location.

Housing Information Students always want to know where they will be living. Share photos/videos if possible. Let them know if they will be sharing rooms and what the housing is near. It is also good to outline realistic expectations about differences in housing (unique rules, difference in internet access, small spaces, no A/C etc.)

Academics Share the academic structure of the program and courses offered. Relate academic information back to the location of the program to help students become excited about studying in the location of the program. Example: Classes are at museums and during tours of the city Class is M-F; free weekends Guest lecturers from Istanbul Earn 3 credits in 2 weeks

Program Itinerary/Highlights If you have the program itinerary ready, use this opportunity to share all the exciting places and events in which your students will get to see and participate. Use photos and build up the excitement—this is the fun part of the info. session! Make sure they know that these are all included in the program fee and indicate any activities that might be optional/additional expenses. Brighton Edinburgh Overnight trip to Paris Cambridge
