Challenges in VET : Transition to the Labour Market school of general education dual VET occupational preparation (dual form) VET school BSW Hamburg-Eimsbüttel 25% of one grade (weak pupils) don‘t get an apprenticeship contract Every year we have a big amount of weak pupils without a chance to get an apprenticeship training place. That area is called the transition system and it has been in focus for some years. One element to solve the problems is AV dual, the vocational preparation in dual form. In other words: The purpose of AV dual is a smooth transition to the labour market for young weak pupils.

One Success Factor for Effective Transition Structure of The qualification starts with an orientation phase at the beginning of the school year After that pupils will learn and work according to a dual structure, - that is three days in a company and two days at school. Furthermore a dominant factor for the success is educational support. That means: Each pupil is supervised by a mentor / in school and during the internships. 2 days in the school 3 days in the company

Aims of the Pilot Challenges Quickly match companies offering internship trainingsplaces with pupils to get them into internships with the perspective of an apprenticeship afterwards Development of Instruments for improvement of dual vocational preparation Guidelines for approaching companies Guidelines for establishing a network with companies Database for matching training places and preferences of pupils

Product 1: Guidelines for Approaching Companies Problems: How to find companies? How to approach? How to convince companies for offering internship training places?
