Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night.  Mrs. Lammons’ Newsletter October 16-20 Homework: Homework is only used to reinforce skills taught in class. 30 minutes per night is the maximum that should be spent working on homework. Your child should read 20 minutes every night . Students need to read different genres to meet the 40 Book Challenge. The planner is located in your child’s G.O. book. Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night.  Math: Lessons 3.4, 3.5, and 3.6. (pages 59-64) Homework pages are found in the GO Math Standards Practice workbook. Important Dates: 10/19 AEEC Glow Party 4:30-7:30PM 10/20 Parent Conference Day/No School for Students 10/23-10/27 Red Ribbon Week 10/26 Field Trip to Jule Collins Smith Museum to see artist Jean Shin 10/30 Book Fair Begins 11/3 Food Bank Field Trip What We Are Learning Read Aloud : Stellaluna by Janell Cannon Comprehension: I can make connections and sequence events in a story. Grammar: I can identify and use strong verbs. Phonics: I can spell words with soft c and soft g. (ex. face and page) Writing: I can write a personal narrative and include details to help my reader visualize. Math: I can learn different ways to practice our basic addition and subtraction facts. Social Sciences: I can research a bat of my choice and write an informational text from my findings. *Practice addition math facts. This will help your child with 3 digit addition and subtraction. Flashcards and Sum Dog are two great resources to help your child. October 31 is our Book Fair Lunch. Please come join your child on Tuesday at 12:15 for lunch and to visit the AEEC Scholastic Book Fair. Meet us in the classroom (Room 703 in the Orange Pod).
