Important Academic Info Monitor your grades on Parent Portal to avoid last minute surprises Contact the teacher first if you are at risk of not passing Attendance impacts grades. Refer to the handbook for information regarding administrative absences. SENIORS: Contact your counselor ASAP if you think you are missing a class required for graduation

Transcript Requests Requested through our registrar Ms. Grigsby Form is online (counselors’ corner) or in Counselors’ Office List multiple schools on same request Please allow 48 hours notice for request to be processed – also remember that it will take the college time to process the transcript Must have parent signature on request if not 18 First 3 are free; after that they are $2 If using SENDEDU or Common App, transcript requests are not filtered through Ms. Grigsby.

Recommendation Letters/ College Applications Please give counselors, teachers, and administrators at least two weeks notification when requesting recommendation letters. Please provide the person writing the letter with a resume. A recommended format is posted on the Career Center Website. If you need a counselor recommendation for Common App, Send Edu, Honors College, etc, please notify your counselor – don’t just assume they will receive the email from your college.

Mississippi Scholars- Seniors only Application will be required Applications will be passed out tonight with transcripts Requirements can be found at http://www.msmec.com/ms-scholars-curriculum

ACT and SAT Waivers Juniors and Seniors on the confidential fee waiver list can receive a total of 2 fee waivers for the ACT and 2 fee waivers for the SAT ACT Fee Waivers also allow for free ACT prep through Kaplan. The fee waiver list is created based on Free/ Reduced Lunch when students or parents return official letter.

Taking Dual Credit Classes on MGCCC Campus Please obtain permission from your counselor before signing up for courses on the MGCCC-JC campus. Students must provide verification of enrollment as well.

College and Career Fair Monday, November 7, 2016 Permission forms due by 10/22/2016 Intended for sophomores and juniors Parent volunteers needed – contact Ms. Jones (bjones@ossdms.org)

Senior Trip Info From Senior Class Sponsors Students received info packet on the senior trip on August 22 Extra copies of the packet are available on the Career Center Website Please email a senior class sponsor if you have any questions adudte@ossdms.org (Angela Dudte) Deposit is due this Friday, Sept 30 to Mrs. Dudte – Room 205

Yearbook Information Seniors received a yearbook packet on September 20th Packet can also be found on the Career Center page and at the end of this meeting See packet for important deadlines – Multiple October Deadlines! Transcript Distribution Each counselor will distribute transcripts after the presentation. Transcripts will include an updated: Weighted GPA Unweighted GPA Approximate Class Rank Final class rank and GPA will be established prior to graduation
