WELCOME TO CONCEPTUAL PHYSICS Mr. Reisener Room 810

Course Philosophy Conceptual physics is a one-year introduction to general physics using mental conceptualization, graphical aids, basic algebra, and some trigonometry.

MAJOR TOPICS SEMESTER 1 Motion- Velocity, Acceleration, Free Fall, Projectile Motion Forces- Newton’s Laws, Friction Gravity Momentum SEMESTER 2 Work, Energy, and Simple Machines Waves- Light and Sound Electricity 3

Expect quizzes on Fridays (study notes, HW, labs). GRADES Expect quizzes on Fridays (study notes, HW, labs). 4

TIPS FOR SUCCESS  Our main resource is www.PhysicsClassroom.com.  You can minimize homework and stress by making efficient use of class time. The key to success is to “reflect” on your classroom experiences…what did we do, why did we do it, and what should you understand? Keep organized by keeping all notes and handouts in your 3-ring binder. Make sure you have a scientific calculator (with exponent, sin, and cos keys). 5
