Presentation transcript:

Warm-up (Sept 29 and Oct 2) Make many observations about this picture in your notes: Using the image to the left identify which of the following is an inference: *The bag of the first one says ‘Trick or Treat’ *The second one is wearing a hat *The third one is a girl *The fourth one has a tail

Lab #2 – What really happened??? Into the really, really small land of chemistry we go! Matter lady activity

Lab #2 - Before and After Pictures Law of conservation of mass: Matter is neither created nor destroyed! Steel is made of Iron (Fe) and Carbon (C). When steel wool is burned, it reacts with the oxygen in the room to make a coating of Iron oxide (Fe2O3) on the surface of the wool. This is why it gains mass! COOL!

Lab 2 Conclusion Examples What do you think of their conclusions? What do you think about their inferences? Do they justify with evidence? Do the inferences make sense?

Lab 1 Due THURSDAY! Lab #1 Requirements: Title, heading, partners Purpose in your own words Data Table (with proper sig figs!) All Calculations in proper format with proper sig figs and units Conclusion Works Cited in MLA (all research links used) ALL WORK 100% BY YOU and YOU ONLY! NOT A GROUP REPORT. NO CHEATING.

Quiz 2 Corrections When you are done with your corrections, come check with me to make sure you got it right, then… Lab 1 Work Time (USE YOUR TIME WISELY) Lab due: Thursday/Friday before class to Moodle Folder

DEMO TIME! Just for fun…

Homework Day 10 Finish Typing up Lab 1 (Due Thursday to Moodle Folder) Make sure you spend some GOOD time on your conclusion! Look at my FEEDBACK on Lab 2 before you try! Moving on next class to Gas Laws!
