Why? 2- Who is our representative? 3- How long has he/she been in office, and when is he/she up for re-election? 4- Which party is he/she a member of? 5- Who held this position before him/her for over 20 years? Gerrymandering Gerrymandering: oddly shaped district designed to increase voting strength of one particular party Majority party in General Assembly has the power to redraw lines People in power like to stay in power! Discriminatory practice against minorities
