Deck Chair P9 By Frank

Design brief Problem: the chair easily flip over when you lean on them on the wrong way. Solution: expanding the length of the fabric seat. Another solution: expanding the length of the fabric seat by this it will increase the surface area. Plywood is material I’m going to use.

Plywood is the best option to use: it’s a unique cross-layered structure, the adhesive used to bond the veneers in plywood are actually stronger than the wood itself. The durability of this wood is quite good because its can last for a vast amount of years. Deadline its at the end of the 8 weeks given It takes 1-2 week to complete each task.

Type of customers Target market from age of 30-60 years of age. People who have fewer time on the schedule. Not to busy with work People who live where there are a lot of sun

Functions of chair Modern looking Chair has maximum relaxation Fabric material used to sit on rather than using material of wood. Fabric material supports people’s body shape The back of the sit will be able to change angle.

Material of Plywood can be cut easily, it’s cheap and has no harmful preservatives. Maximum height of 200 cm, 100 cm length and 15 cm depth The chair will be manufactured both by hand and also by using CAD software and CAM hardware. The chair manufactured will be of a prototype

Shape, colour texture The shape of the chair will have smooth lines and curves. Plywood will have a light brown colour The will have this colour to fit in with modern surroundings of my clients homes. This picture is a picture of Plywood with the natural colour en.wikipedia.org

Quality assurance Quality assurance will be carried out to make sure that systems and procedures are in place so that a quality piece of furniture is manufactured. The clients will updated and new ideas of design and manufacturing will be talked to the clients.

Cost The total cost of manufacturing the chair will be £130. This material will include materials, labour costs, tools and equipment's will not be included, as these will be available in school.

Health and safety Health and safety regulations will be used during the manufacturing process. This will be done using continues tests of stability. This will be done to also judge the strength of the chair. These procedures will be done to prevent the chair from being a hazard towards the clients.
