What are you being tested on? A03: ‘Analyse and evaluate, in relation to the historical context, different ways in which aspects of the past have been interpreted.’

01 Question Not the same as AS 01 Questions! No need for a conclusion or judgement on the most convincing Give specific details when using your own knowledge to support the convincing nature of the extract Sample answer takes each argument in turn and assesses the own knowledge to support or contradict it – good way of showing links to the extract Don’t include too much detail in factual evidence not related to the extract – keep the focus on what it does say not what is omitted It is advised that students spend one hour answering this question. Important that the focus is on interpretation and argument rather than the factual content of the extract. Similarly, to argue from the basis of omission (what is not said) must be secondary to the assessment of what is said.
