Disruptive Innovation with Sandia IT Project Design Thinking @Sandia 5mins Three phase workshop approach Implemented the Design Thinker methodologies, specifically the HMW exercise Gained a new understanding of the customer experiences Found common themes and have translated them into clearly defined design challenges Well positioned for our next workshop – the solution focused workshop. The environment was highly engaging and collaborative. Received positive comments and support from departments that had felt left out in the past. Design Thinking @Sandia Step 1 First: Reframe your problem statement as “How Might We” to approach a solution. Step 2 Second: Ask “Why Might We Want to Do This?” to validate the strategic goals. Finally: Define “What’s Stopping Us” to clarify and prioritize those facts which must be addressed to solve the problem. Step 3

Help Attendees practice a method that really puts the customer first Why? Why? Why? How Might We…. Engage Our Design Thinking Attendees to Actively Participate in this Activity? What’s stopping us? What’s stopping us? WSU? Participants are pretty sure the person next to them will volunteer… Now that you mention it, I forgot to use my Irish Spring this morning.. Breakout one 5 mins, Report out 5 mins, Breakout two 5 mins, Report out two – 5 mins David is intimidating participants with his Black Belt (Kee-Ya!) skills

Challenge Mapping Activity Groups and organization 5 mins

Summary 5 mins – points to highlight: The design Thinker process is designed to create an environment where disruptive innovation can flourish. We have found a way to apply it to SNL related challenges. You can this same methodology and apply it to your business.
