Possible Essays… Which Act of Parliament angered the American Colonists the most? Defend your opinion- at what point did colonists stop viewing themselves as British citizens and start seeing themselves as Americans? Was the American Revolution inevitable? How did we get here?

Proclamation Act of 1763 Ended settlement west of Appalachian Mountains. Upset them. By 1765, many started crossing the line and settled in western lands.

Sugar Act Cut in half the tax rates on Molasses. Created courts to punish smugglers Continued smuggling.

Stamp Act Direct tax on articles and documents Loud protests Wrote newspaper articles against the tax. Boycotted British goods “No taxation with out representation”

Townshend Acts Created a tax (duty) on tea, paper, glass, and paint. Smuggling continued. Boycotts.
