To change within a unit from one prefix to another prefix, we either multiply or divide by a power of 10. smaller to larger unit divide by a power of 10 larger to smaller unit multiply by a power of 10

Examples: convert the following 5.76m to cm Big Small 5.76m = 5.76 x 100cm = 576 cm 489mL to L Small Big 489mL = 489 1000 = 0.489L 3789600cm to km Small Big 3789600cm = 3789600 100000 = 37.896km x
