Charleroi Attendance Policy Accepted Parent Excuses 15 Cumulative Absences Illness Quarantine Recovery from Accident Required Court Attendance Death in the Family Family Educational Trip with Prior Approval Educational Tours/Trips with Prior Approval Family Emergency After 15 cumulative absences (Excused/Unexcused) Only Medical Excuses Written by a Doctor will be Accepted 3 Unexcused Days Parent will receive a letter Referral to Try Again Homes Possible attendance meeting with the assistant principal 6+ Unexcused Days Attendance Improvement meeting will be held with the assistant principal Possible Citation from the Magistrate Possible referral to Children and Youth Services
Tardy and Unexcused Tardy Absence (UTA) Tardy time to school is 9:01am The list of acceptable excuses for absences applies for a tardy as well Every 4th unexcused tardy will result in a Unexcused Tardy Absence (UTA) which will count as an unexcused day from school After the 15th tardy (Excused or Unexcused) a doctor’s note is required
Half Day Absence/Early Release We do not have ½ day absences Arriving prior to 12:00pm is tardy Arriving after 12:00pm is absent Students can be picked up early for various reasons Students picked up prior to 3:20pm will be given an Early Release Students picked up before 12:00pm and do not return will be considered absent
Things to Remember Excuses must be turned in within 3 days of returning to school Please make sure the information on the excuse is correct When picking up your child, you must show ID. This is a very important safety precaution. Keep us informed of any custody issues and provide us with the most recent court documents.
