Introductions Tell us your name and write it on the board Tell us where you were born (which city and which country)

What will you do in this session? Introduce yourself to the group Share an aspect of your culture Think about your expectations of studying at Wintec Compare your expectations of studying at Wintec with the reality Think about what you can do to increase your chances of success at Wintec

The cultural iceberg

Sharing aspects of culture Talk to someone from a different country (if possible) or someone you don’t know Tell them one thing about your country or culture that you think is special or interesting

Different Expectations Individually: Complete the questionnaire on your own (5 minutes) In groups: Look at the correct answers (on the table) Tell your group: Which of your expectations did not match the reality Work out as a group which expectations most commonly did not match the reality Select a person to report to the whole class. (15 mins)

Do your expectations match reality? Stand in a line according to how many of your expectations matched the reality. Stay in the line, and talk in groups of three about the thing that is concerning you the most.
