CHAPTER 1 SECTION 4

SKETCHING INTERSECTIONS GOAL: SKETCH SIMPLE FIGURES ANS THEIR INTERSECTION In geometry, figures intersect if they have any points in common. The intersection of two or more figures is the point or points that the figures have in common.

EXAMPLES: Name the intersection of AC and BE Name the intersection of DF and BE Name the intersection of AC and DF

EXAMPLES: Name the intersection of planes S and R Name the intersection of planes S and T Name the intersection of planes R and T 4. Name the intersection of planes X and Y 5. Name the intersection of planes Y and Z 6. Name the intersection of planes X and Z

SKETCHING A FIGURE: Sketch a plane then sketch the following. a. A line that is in the plane b. A line that does not intersect the plane c. A line that intersects the plane at a point.

QUIZ TOPICS: a. patterns b. conjectures/counterexamples c. points/lines/planes d. intersections
