Out-of-class Activity Design - 3 Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective Learning Objective Assessment Strategy Expected duration (in min) Additional Instructions (if any) Solving heat exchanger problem using LMTD method Determine the area of counter flow heat exchanger with the following data: U= 20 W/m2K, Q = 1 kW, Cold fluid inlet and outlet temp. = 30℃, 35℃ Hot fluid inlet and outlet temp. = 150℃ , 100℃ 15 min. Watch video 1 If this assignment is completed, 20 % of assessment marks will be considered if submitted in time. Expected activity duration 15 minutes

Out-of-class Activity Design - 3 Aligning Assessment with Learning Objective Learning Objective Assessment Strategy Expected Duration (in min) Additional Instructions (if any) To design the heat exchanger area using NTU method Determine the area of counter flow heat exchanger with the following data: U= 20 W/m2K, Q = 1 kW, Cold fluid inlet and outlet temp. = 30℃, 35℃ Hot fluid inlet and outlet temp. = 150℃ , 100℃ Cmin = 1 kW/K and Cmax = 4.18 kW/K Compare the solution with LMTD method. 15 min. Watch video 2 and answer both questions. 20% of assessment will be considered if submitted in time.
