Opportunity For Improvement The level of respectful behavior among all Pittsburgh Job Corps members (staff and students) is not at an appropriate level.
Our Challenge Our challenge is to improve the level of respect that exists at Pittsburgh Job Corps between students. We believe that if we can improve the level of respect among students, the level of respect between students and staff will improve as well.
Importance of our Challenge Students can gain more of a sense of responsibility. If students learn respect at Job Corps, they will be respectful in the workplace. Students will be more motivated to complete their trades and assume leadership roles. Reduce the number of write-ups and terminations. Mutual respect among PJCC members will lead to higher morale and a better sense of pride.
Solutions to our Challenge What steps should be taken? Who is responsible? Deadline Work with Center Conduct Committee (CCC) to improve behavior. SGA, management staff In progress Establish a Welcome Committee SGA, Evening Counselor Establish student-led clubs SGA, club leaders Give presentations to students in class on respectful behavior. SGA April 2015 Peer-to-peer mentoring program SGA, Mentoring Coordinator May 2015 Post student artwork in dorms so students feel proud about what floor they live on. SGA, Residential Manager June 2015
We will know we succeeded when… The number of write-ups and terminations decrease. More students volunteer to be a peer-to-peer mentor. Students will be motivated to take on leadership roles. Improvement of rapport between staff and students. Students and staff recognize the atmosphere at PJCC has improved.
In Conclusion… The level of respectful rapport among all Pittsburgh Job Corps members (staff and students) is not at an appropriate level. Our goal is to improve the level of respect that exists at Pittsburgh Job Corps among both staff and students by adhering to our realistic solutions and executing them by the deadlines.
This can and will be achieved!
