What is Sunnyhurst like? Our reception class is fully integrated with Key stage 1. This makes us different to many schools. We follow 1 curriculum for all children who access learning at many different levels of ability. This is done through very careful and structured planning. Each day children will spend some time working independently (child initiated learning) and some time working with the teacher(adult led learning).
How does it work ? We carefully observe and monitor the children's learning in all curriculum areas. The children are grouped by ability for reading, writing and maths. The children are in mixed age groups for some activities to create more challenge. This means that every child is working at their full potential.
