Try to write at least 5 ideas in the my notes section together. Discuss “Elements of Plot” with class together to fill in the plot triangle blanks.

ELA 1: Activity 2.2 Springboard – page 98 (10 min.) Read aloud the directions for “Planning a Story.” Fill in all blanks for “Planning a Story” on your own quietly! You may integrate ideas of things you’ve read or watched, just change the names of the characters to your own ideas. Take this seriously since this will be the idea you will begin developing in two weeks for your short story summative! If you finish early, begin p. 99 on your own.

ELA 1: Activity 2.2 Springboard – page 99 Read aloud “Comparing Points of View” and the examples of different points of view. Highlight or underline the words/sentences that helped you determine point of view. With the same partner from earlier, do pp. 99 #3 (a, b, c), 4 (a, b, c), 5, and Check Your Understanding together for 15 minutes. Class will review the answers quickly.

ELA 1: Vocabulary Review Period 2 only: Pick a partner or a group of 3. You will be assigned a word wall word from either Unit 1 or Unit 2. You will figure out in 5 minutes a brief no talking skit/movement (pantomime) to show the word wall word in action – practice it quickly so everyone knows what they have to do. You will come in front of the room to do your brief pantomime so the class can guess your word. If they are able to guess your word within 1 or 2 guesses, you and your partner(s) will get an extra stamp. We will play the game until we’ve covered most if not all the words. Students can volunteer to do extra words that haven’t been given out yet for another extra stamp.
