Introduction to Gateway School District The mission of the Gateway School District, in cooperation with parents and other members of the community, is to provide quality educational opportunities for all students, to promote academic excellence in a safe and caring environment, to enhance self-confidence through personal responsibility, and to develop life-long learners who will be productive citizens in a diverse and changing world.

ESL Program Goals To use English to communicate in school and social settings. To use English to achieve academically in all content areas. To use English in socially and culturally appropriate ways.

What you can do!!! Check assignment books and backpacks. Complete and return forms promptly. Schedule a routine time for reading **20 minutes a day even in home language** Contact teachers with questions and concerns. Attend conferences.
