Mrs. Morwick DePauw Science

All About Me  I was born and raised in Ohio. Go Buckeyes! My husband Matt and I have a beautiful baby girl, Nora, and she is 18 months. I am a huge sports fan. I love the Pacers, Buckeyes, Colts, and Red Sox and I play volleyball at the YMCA. This is my 9th year teaching science and 4th year at NEMS

What does a typical science class look like? The beginning of each class students go to my canvas page https://noblesville.instructure.com/courses/15282/pages/bell- work-agenda After the bell work agenda, we begin the lesson. Teacher led instruction, group work/activity/lab, independent work Usually more student directed then teacher directed When class ends, students wait to be dismissed by me 

Grading The 6th science department has weighted grades. Assessments are 75% of their overall grade Classwork is 15% of their overall grade Homework is 10% of their overall grade You can check PowerSchool for grades “M” means missing assignment “L” means assignment was turned in late “EX” means excused and does not affect grade

Homework Don’t be surprised if you notice your child not coming home with a lot of science homework. I tend to give a good amount of class time for them to complete an assignment. Of course, you can always double check through the DePauw homework slide that is on the teacher’s Canvas page 

Topic Overview Skills of Science (chapters 1 & 2) Matter (chapters 3 & 4) Energy (chapter 5) Solar System (chapters 6 & 7) Ecosystems/biomes (chapters 8 & 9)

How to Earn (or not earn) Fun Friday Come to school everyday. Be responsible. Turn in all your work and homework. Be on time to class. Have all materials Be respectful. Your student will know if their name is on the no fun Friday list. If they forget why, they can always ask the teacher why they have no fun Friday No fun room & fun rooms
